Project Vision

Design a responsive website that helps DIY musicians connect with DIY event promoters, bookers, and festivals through a responsive website for mobile, tablet, and desktop.

Using a rating system to increase accountability for both promoters and musicians, encourage trust and improve trust in the music industry, removing the stress from bookings. This specific assignment was required to have a header image Carousel.

Research Questions

“If there was a booking software that made it easier; are there any key features you wished you had when booking a show?”
“What scheduling features would you require on a booking software?”
“What challenges have you faced booking shows? Explain your past experience.”
“Would you prefer to pay or be paid online or pay in person?”
“What booking deals do you normally agree to?”
“Is there anything else you’d like to share about your ideal way of booking shows?”

Empathy

Summary: Qualitative Research

There are 2 types of research methodologies, I chose qualitative since my interviews would using done remotely using Google Polls. The recruited Surveys participants who were responsible for booking for their band or throw regular events were asked to add a series of questions to regarding booking shows online, using Google Polls. I had 8 participates in all since 5-8 survey respondents are recommend for optimal results.

My goal was to understand the process bookers and musicians face in the industry, uncover pain points and to help gain empathy for the user.

Pain Points

  1. Availabilities - Searching for schedule availabilities for bands, venues and promoters can be difficult
  2. Scheduling - Booking several bands at once becomes challenging for large scale events, juggling several calendars at once can be complicated for both promoters and bands.
  3. Payment - Unclear how the band will be paid, how much and how.
  4. Trust: Accountability and communication between both parties.

User Story

As a promoter, I want to have an option to filter out bands that do not fit my needs, so that it saves me time in the booking process.
