About me

Creativity and Inspiration

Sandra is recognized for her vibrant creativity and surreal designs, drawing inspiration from gaming, technology, and the dynamic energy of photographing live shows.

Passion for People

With a strong sense of empathy and a passion for connecting with and helping people, Sandra actively supports the Toronto music scene. She volunteers to promote independent artists and foster partnerships. Under her projects runrebel.run and Critical Zero, she has photographed and written show reviews for notable bands such as Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins, The Hives, Teen Mortgage, and Bad Nerves, serving as a creative director, designer, and photographer.

Current Role at Bandzoogle

Sandra currently works remotely for Bandzoogle, now owned by DistroKid, an incredible SaaS company dedicated to helping the independent musicians and the music community.

Her responsibilities include:

  • Performing site reviews for members to assist with web design, organization, and SEO optimization, improving the visitor experience and user flow on members' websites.
  • Assisting members via chat and email with a wide range of inquiries.
  • Gathering feedback and submitting bug reports to the QA team.
  • Participating in annual team-based design sprints.
  • Contributing to the creation of user stories.

Company Values

Bandzoogle’s and DistroKid’s work culture aligns with Sandra’s personal values, emphasizing honesty, respect, creativity, and fun. The company promotes teamwork, continuous learning, and a balanced, health-focused approach to remote work.

Sandra is excited for her future at Bandzoogle, where she aims to continue learning, growing, and embracing new challenges. Her goal is to apprentice as a generalist UX designer, utilizing her skills in design, problem-solving, and empathy to help musicians while learning from her Bandzoogle colleagues.

Discovering a Passion for UX

Through her work at Bandzoogle, Sandra discovered a deep passion for UX design, particularly during site reviews and firsthand experiences with high-fidelity prototype presentations from the design team. Gathering feedback, conducting testing, and witnessing improvements in members’ experiences was both exciting and fulfilling.

She realized that UX design perfectly integrates her background in arts, web design, marketing, and—most importantly—her 20+ years of customer and technical support experience at well-established companies such as Xplornet, Apple, and Ubisoft, where she provided chat and phone support.

Currently, she also works part-time as a freelance photographer in Toronto.

Educational Achievements

Sandra recently completed an intensive UX training program, gaining skills in UX research, inclusive design, wireframing, and low- & high-fidelity prototyping using Figma. She also learned fundamental design principles, including Gestalt theory.

She built a portfolio with three projects through Google’s UX Design Certificate Program.

Additionally, she graduated with honors from Seneca College’s Independent Music Production course, earning a spot on the President’s List with a 4.0 GPA in her first semester in 2021.
